Global Warming?  Never heard of it, probably a vast left wing conspiracy, aren't you tired of shoveling snow anyway, shhhhhhhhhh.

One wonders just how these turds sleep at night.

Sustainability, energy independence and agricultural policy

The Ergosphere has some thoughts on energy, hurricanes, long term goals, self-sustaining systems, transportation, incentive structures and a lot more.  Anyone dealing with economic and energy policy should be required to read this and respond.  Hey, it even includes charts and graphs for those policy makers who find reading to be a bore.

Wells Fargo funds oil, coal, logging, mining operations.

by Robyn E.

Did you know that Wells Fargo, one of America’s largest banks, is a top financier of destructive oil, coal, logging, and mining operations that contribute to global warming, ecosystem destruction, and human rights abuses?

The corrupt power of their finances funds organizations that have worked to rollback forest, endangered species and clean water protections devastating eco-systems and communities from Alaska to Appalachia. Take action: http://go.care2.com/e/R2CH/A8L4/EQvM

Help Save Wyoming's Wolves

Wyoming has declared war on wolves. State officials have filed a lawsuit to compel the federal government to remove as many as two-thirds of the wolves in Wyoming. And, unless we stop them, as many as 200 wolves and their pups could die.

Last week, Defenders of Wildlife and allied conservation groups launched emergency legal action to stop Wyoming’s plan, but we need your help.

Take action now! Urge Wyoming Governor Dave Freudenthal and the state Attorney General to withdraw their lawsuit and get serious about promoting sustainable wolf management in the Northern Rockies.

Senator James Jeffords Sponsors S. 3591: High-Performance Green Buildings Act of 2006

I was pleased to open my email this morning and find that S. 3591 was added to the legislative schedule for a vote. The proposal is that every American would pay 1 dollar starting in 2008 to implement the development of Green Building projects. Green buildings will save taxpayers, business owners and homeowners a lot of money in the long run and is a wise investment. Sen. Jeffords has a lot of experience with this as many of the homes being built in VT are solar and high efficiency homes.

Does this sound like a good idea to you? Mention it to your own legislator and begin pushing for bi-partisan support of the bill please.

GovTrack.us allows you to track any types of legislation you'd like. The reason I like it is because it is completely independent from the Government and therefore is unlikely to be swayed with incorrect information from various sources.

Fake News Flash: Global Warming Is a Myth!

At least that's what residents of hurricane-ravaged Mississippi were told when a local newscaster aired a fake news segment earlier this year. One problem: Viewers weren't told that the segment was bought and paid for by ExxonMobil lobbyists.

The problem doesn't end in Mississippi. Free Press and the Center for Media and Democracy today released a second groundbreaking report that exposes more corporations placing propaganda as news on television stations across the country -- including stations reaching people in New York.

Would you kill a prarie dog?

Would you kill a prairie dog? I couldn't, and I don't want to let the Forest Service do it either. Sign this petition to stop the Forest Service from poisoning and killing tens of thousands of these furry critters: http://go.care2.com/e/qzAv/AGh7/EQvM

The Forest Service wants to make it easier to poison and kill prairie dogs on the American plains -- not just threatening prairie dogs but disturbing the ecosystem for creatures like burrowing owls, hawks, swift fox and the critically endangered black-footed ferret.

Wildlife Victories at the Polls!

This was an amazing week for our wildlife and wild places. Thanks to the support of people like you, our wolves, polar bears and other imperiled creatures have a brighter future.

But it isn’t just the enormous win I told you about yesterday -- the defeat of House Resources Chair and America’s #1 Wildlife Villain, Rep. Richard Pombo. Conservation wins came on several fronts in Tuesday’s elections:

  • Defenders Action Fund helped defeat anti-wildlife candidates in 14 House races across the country, sending more pro-wildlife votes to Washington, DC.
  • According to media accounts, control of the Senate has also changed -- albeit by a very slim margin. Needless to say, the Congressional landscape will be fundamentally different from the current anti-environment Congress.
  • Changes in Congress will provide much-needed oversight of an anti-wildlife Bush Administration that's cozy with Big Oil and other special interests.
  • In state elections, voters in California, Idaho and Washington rejected deceptive ballot initiatives backed by greedy developers that would have undermined land use and environmental regulations.

These victories are only the beginning. The American people have spoken out in favor of forward-thinking environmental policy -- and against elected leaders that pander to special interests at the expense of our wildlife and wild places.

Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund will continue to hold our elected officials accountable and make sure our most imperiled creatures are protected for future generations to enjoy.

Thanks so much for all your support in these amazing victories!
